Preventative Treatment for Adults and Children
Consistent dental care results in healthy smiles, and this process should start at an early age. Attention to oral care during the younger years ensures that your child’s teeth can develop normally and help avoid many problems.
Adults also benefit from regular visits. Most adults and children should be seen at least every 6 months for regular exams and cleanings as recommended by the American Dental Association. A full set of radiographs should be taken once every 5 years and update x-rays once a year. X-rays help the doctor see the health of the bone and the ligament that holds the teeth in the jaw, check for infections, pathology and cavities between the teeth.
During your exam Dr. Tobar will also be checking the health of your gums, the biting surfaces of the teeth, the TMJ (jaw joint), and completing an oral cancer screening of the soft and hard tissues.r users know a little more about d
Digital Radiographs
One of the main advantages of digital radiography is that you won't have to wait for X-Ray film to be developed, you'll immediately see the digital image on a large-screen computer in our treatment rooms. But most importantly, digital radiography exposes you to up to 90 percent less radiation than traditional film X-Rays do. The large images enables the doctor to highlight potential problem areas allowing patients to be better informed and more involved in their treatment options.
Metal-free, tooth colored fillings
If your teeth are filled with dark metal fillings, also known as amalgam, your smile could be aging your appearance. Over time silver fillings can fracture and even discolor the surrounding healthy tooth structure leading to sensitivity and even decay under the filling. Silver fillings can easily be replaced with either tooth colored fillings or porcelain onlays. Tooth colored fillings are bonded into place which strengths the tooth while maintain a natural looking smile.
Porcelain Crowns and Onlays
Porcelain not only allows for exception aesthetics, but combined with the latest materials and cements, also allows for exceptional durability. Onlays help to conserve healthy tooth structure and like porcelain crowns are bonded into place for a strong, natural looking restoration. Onlays are usually indicated when replacing large unsightly silver fillings. They blend in with the natural tooth structure giving you a youthful smile.
Bridges
A porcelain bridge, like implants and partial dentures are used to replace missing teeth. Bridges use healthy neighboring teeth to anchor it in place. Because the bridge is cemented or bonded into place, it remains fixed as compared to removable appliances like partial dentures. One or more missing teeth can adversely affect the appearance and functionality of your smile. Missing teeth can cause a change in the bite, shifting of the teeth, speech impediments, an increased risk for periodontal disease and a greater chance of tooth decay.
Porcelain Veneers
If your front teeth are discolored and stained, chipped, cracked, slightly misaligned, or have metal fillings, consider veneers. Made from thin sheaths of porcelain layered atop each other, veneers can completely cover the front of your teeth to create a perfectly shaped, dazzlingly white, absolutely gorgeous natural smile.
After a comprehensive exam, we will develop a cosmetic plan to give you the smile you have always wanted. Veneers, also called laminates, are long lasting, stain resistant, and require only two visits for the complete treatment. In fact, you’ll leave the first appointment with a set of temporary veneers while your custom final veneers are being crafted at a lab.
Implant Services
Implants are the standard of care when it comes to the replacement of missing teeth. Dental implants are natural-looking replacements that also provide the same function as your natural tooth and tooth root. A dental implant is a sturdy titanium post that acts as the root structure would for a natural tooth that is placed in the bone. After the bone has grown around the implant, implants can hold a crown, bridge or over-denture just like roots hold natural teeth in place. Implants are very durable and can last a lifetime. They require the same maintenance as natural teeth; this includes brushing, flossing and regular dental check-ups.
Invisalign
nvisalign takes a modern approach to straightening teeth, using a custom made series of aligners created for you and only you. These aligner trays are made of smooth, comfortable and virtually, invisible plastic thay you simply wear over your teeth. Wearing the aligners will gradually and gently shift your teeth into place, based on the exact movements Dr. Tobar plans out for you. There are no metal brackets to attach and no wire to tighten. You simply pop in a new set of aligners every two weeks, until your treatment is complete and you achieve the confident smile that you’ve always wanted.
Oral Surgery
When teeth are no longer restorable they may require removal. Using the most modern techniques and instrumentation, teeth can be extracted with minimal trauma while preserving the surrounding soft and hard tissues.
Full and Partial Dentures
A smile just isn’t a smile if it’s incomplete. Missing teeth cause many problems, from difficulty speaking and eating to low self-confidence. Advances in dental materials and technology have made full and partial dentures more lifelike and comfortable than ever. Full dentures can also be integrated with implants which give the denture exceptional stability and eliminate the use of denture adhesives. Construction of a quality full or complete denture requires multiple appointments to assure proper aesthetics and function.
Soft tissue Laser in combination with gum treatment
Soft tissue lasers aid in the removal of diseased, infected or inflamed soft tissue in the gum pockets to improve the overall health of your gums. Dr. Tobar uses this technology in many clinical situations, including during deep cleanings.
Zoom! and take-home whitening treatment
Lifestyle and the aging process can stain and darken your teeth. Smoking, wine, coffee, tea, dark sodas all contribute to accumulation of dark unsightly stains. Whitening can get your smile looking its best. Zoom! is an in-office whitening procedure that uses light activated whitening gel's that contains the active ingredient hydrogen peroxide. As the hydrogen peroxide is broken down, oxygen enters the enamel and dentin, bleaching colored substances while the structure of the tooth is unchanged. The Zoom! light aids in activating the hydrogen peroxide and helps it penetrate the surface of the tooth. Your teeth can be up to eight shades whiter in just 1 hour.
Nite- White is a take home whitening system that used 22% carbamide peroxide to give you a whiter brighter smile. The whitening gel is a thick solution, which is applied by the patient at home using a clear and inconspicuous custom fitted tray.

Nightguards and Athletic Guards
An athletic guard is a flexible appliance made out of plastic that is worn in athletic and recreational activities to protect teeth from trauma. Mouthguards are effective in moving soft tissue in the oral cavity away from the teeth, preventing laceration and bruising of the lips and cheeks and fracturing or chipping of the teeth.
Nightguards are also custom made and help to protect the teeth from abnormal wear while sleeping. Stress, anxiety or even habit can lead to grinding or clenching which puts teeth at risk for fracture, pain and discomfort. To see if a nightguard is right for you call Dr. Tobar to talk about your symptoms.
